Care

How do I clean my piece? Warm soapy water or dish soap with a soft sponge is all you need. Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals.

What is the weight limit? The full version (complete head) has a recommended maximum weight of 120 kg. Standing on the stool is not recommended. The Whang (incomplete head) is not intended for sitting or standing — we recommend using it as a side table or decorative object.

Material & Process

Photography & Digital Representation

We do our best to photograph each piece accurately, but product photography will never be a perfect match — lighting conditions, shadows, and screen calibration vary from device to device. Our pieces are also made from recycled materials that are naturally batch-to-batch, meaning colour and tone will shift between production runs. What you receive will always be within the character of the piece shown, but may not be an exact match. We encourage you to embrace the individuality of your piece.

The Narrative of Colour Traces

This is intentional. Rumbá Bor minimises production waste — where a traditional manufacturer would discard colour blends, we do not. In our single colour Classics, subtle traces of other colours are celebrated - this is how we originally began - making one off unique pieces with distinct marble patterns. The marble and colour blend patterns are now celebrated in our Rare and Lookchoop collections but traces of colours still remain in the classics because we believe in individuality.

Batch-to-Batch Variation

Our colours are batch-to-batch by nature. Because we work with the natural colour of recycled materials rather than standardising them with dye, while we try to perfect a recipe to match the previous batch, each production run will vary slightly in tone.

Material Characteristics & The Production Process

Every piece goes through quality control before it leaves our studio. However, there are some marks that are unavoidable in small-batch recycled plastic production and are part of what makes each piece unique. The following are natural and expected characteristics — not defects:

  • Mould cut lines: A mould cut line runs along each side of the stool leg near the top, most often resulting in a slightly lighter shade. This is a natural and inevitable result of the production mould.
  • Structural visibility: Because our stools are made to be semi-transparent, the internal bone structure may be more visible on some pieces than others depending on the cooling rate, which can vary piece to piece.
  • Minor surface lines and crawling: A natural characteristic of recycled plastic production. When reclaimed materials are cleaned and reinjected, trace moisture can sometimes remain, resulting in crawl lines on the surface. We find these quite charming — they add character to each piece. Pieces with particularly distinct crawl lines, air gaps, or even sometimes tiny dust that gets injected with the plastic often get featured in our Rare collection.

Structural Integrity & Support

If your concern is about colour variation, surface lines, mould marks, or colour traces — these are all natural characteristics of our material and process. If your piece arrived damaged — cracked, broken, or structurally compromised — please contact us at hello@rumbabor.com within 7 days of receiving your order with clear photos of the outer packaging and the item. We will take care of you.

Our Collections

Classic

Single colour pieces, partly intentional, partly material-led. Our Classic colours are mixed from available recycled polypropylene — each batch carries its own subtle tone, and no colour can be exactly repeated.

Look Choop

Lookchoop Multicolour pieces typically in 4–5 colours. Each combination is determined by available materials and may be one of a kind, or made from a mix of Classic colours. No two are exactly alike.

Whang

Whang (แหว่ง) features the incomplete CHOEI heads — traditionally discarded as production waste where spontaneously missing rims create organic forms. This happens through a few technical errors in the production process where we celebrate the process. These are recommended as side tables or decorative objects only. Not suitable for sitting or standing.

Krasue

Rare

Truly one of a kind pieces. Replacing the original PVC injection method with hand-poured recycled polypropylene creates marble-like patterns, transforming what was once identical, mass-produced into objects of chance.  Embracing the spontaneity of an uncontrolled process, no two pieces ever form the same way, each one a unique result of the material and process.

Cherng

The Cherng side table brings together two distinct remnants of Thai material culture. It features incomplete Choei stool heads, traditionally discarded as production waste, where spontaneously missing rims create unique, organic forms. These are paired with repurposed dead-stock ceramic balusters, a nostalgic fixture of Roman-influenced Thai railings with a local twist of vibrant colours.

Assembly

Your stool arrives flat-packed with one seat and four leg pieces. Attach each leg to the seat and screw the legs to the seat with a hand or electric screw.
