MANGSAAP
Mangsaap (Cockroach) - a creature of instinct and endurance. A factory deadstock — overlooked, unfound, and forgotten — the Mangsaap stool takes on its name symbolically. This is CHOEI in its most original colour, years before Rumba Bor found and repurposed an art deco stool mold made by a Taiwanese grandfather in the 2000s.

ABOUT US
RUMBÁ BOR is a functional art collective based in Thailand. We value sustainability, aesthetic and durability. Inspired by the mundane everyday aesthetics, we draw attention to the beauty in the small details that might have been looked over.
CHOEI (เฌย – outdated)
A project that aims to blur the line between the everyday mundane and designed objects through materials. CHOEI reminisces a curb side noodle stall stool and what used to be produced and sold en masse with a twist. It challenges the conventions of mass-produced plastic by introducing handmade elements through hand-pouring techniques using recycled PP, resulting in pieces that are unique in both colour and story.

PHKA I RUMBABOR I NEIGHBORHOODSDRAMA for Tida Thailand 2025
Coduality — a collaborative installation with Phka Studio that reimagines, deconstructs, and transforms elements from Krasue—Choei’s phosphorescent collection developed in collaboration with Neighborhoods Drama.
THE INSTALLATION EXPLORES HARMONY THROUGH POLARITY, MERGING THE PERFECT WITH THE IMPERFECT AND BLURRING THE LINES BETWEEN THE ORGANIC AND THE INDUSTRIAL. FLORAL MOTIF CUTOUTS FROM THE STOOL LEGS, WOVEN INTO AN ORGANIC BOUQUET, RECONTEXTUALIZE CHOEI’S ROLE—INVITING A CLOSER LOOK AT ITS MATERIALITY, GEOMETRY, AND FORM BEYOND ITS ORIGINAL FUNCTION AS A STOOL.

KOPE HYA TAI KEE I RUMBABOR I NEIGHBORHOODSDRAMA for BANGKOK DESIGN WEEK 2025
Koam Mung Gorn (Dragon Lantern) - an installation that extends the conceptual framework of CHOEI—a remake of a vintage Chinese stool that aims to accentuate the remnants of beauty in the mundane. By shifting the focus beyond the functional stool itself, we invite audiences to look deeper and explore materiality through geometric forms, textures, colors, translucency, and the intricate patterns that interweave Thai and Chinese influences. Notice the dragon’s whiskers—they are crafted from small ‘tadpoles,’ a byproduct of our plastic injection manufacturing process.

The installation explores harmony through polarity, merging the perfect with the imperfect and blurring the lines between the organic and the industrial.
